Researchers from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences shed light on residues of medicine in the environment

Freiburg, Mar 27, 2019

Antibiotics, diabetes treatments or hormones from the pill: the amount of residues of medicines in drinking water is constantly rising. Pharmacists from the University of Freiburg are shedding more light on the effects on the environment, people and animals. At a workshop, dispensing pharmacist Petra Mußler gives students tips on the disposal of medicines. More environmentally-friendly standards could also be developed for the production and licensing of pharmaceuticals, explains Prof. Dr. Michael Müller from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences – these findings influence the training of the researchers and dispensing pharmacists of tomorrow.
