From an intelligent water faucet to a bike pedal as a fitness tracker: For two semesters 60 master's degree students in microsystems engineering slip into the role of a project manager, product designer or design engineer, drafting, building and demonstrating a technical system in the course "Design Lab". The students are divided into an international group of five. During the course, they are required to develop microsystems for everyday life that produce their own energy and can work without having to change a battery or use an electrical connection. The students have a budget of only 100 euros per semester. The system is not allowed to cost more than that. The rest depends on the students' creativity.
