For the first time, researchers have conducted a wide-ranging study into the lives of countrywomen in Baden-Württemberg

Golden fields of wheat, happy cows and is that the scent of hay in the air? Very few of us know what lives are really like on the land – and one particular group has been largely overlooked in Germany anyway. Now, on behalf of the Ministry of Rural Affairs, Food and Consumer Protection Baden-Württemberg, Freiburg scientist Prof. Dr. Heiner Schanz has studied the situation of almost 2,400 women who work in agriculture or live and work in rural areas. The study has delivered first impressions on employment, family and leisure. Results show that the women are passionate about their work, yet around half of them feel that their businesses are in danger. How can politicians help?
