During the University elections on June 19, 2018 students and enrolled doctoral candidates at the University of Freiburg voted for their representatives in the senate and faculty councils. Voter turnout in the senate elections was around 13.5 percent, two percentage points higher than last year. The election for the student government (VS) took place at the same time.

Student senate members starting October 1, 2018 include:

Katharina Krahé, nomination “BVS a”

Mira Kopp, nomination “campusgrün Freiburg”

Ines Frankenhauser, nomination “Juso-Hochschulgruppe”

Robin Eger, nomination “BVS b”

The senate represents all areas of the University. The office term for the newly elected student members is for one year. The office term for the current elected members of the other groups also runs until September 30, 2019. Due to their office, the rector, the vice-rectors, the chancellor, the faculty equal opportunity representative and the faculty deans are also members of the committee.

At the faculty level, the faculty council and the great faculty councils have similar tasks and functions as the senate for the entire university. Five or six student members were elected for each of these committees.
