Through a six-month pilot program, the hotline at the University of Freiburg’s Student Service Center (SCS) is now available under the WhatsApp number +49 178/2784219. The hotline team will answer questions Monday through Thursday from 9am to 4:30pm and Fridays from 9am to 12pm. Reyling the pilot program, the SCS wants to determine whether chats can be meaningfully integrated into the study information of the university.

For years, hotline staff members have been available via e-mail (studienberatung@service.uni-freiburg.de) and telephone (+49 761/203-4246). “By introducing WhatsApp, we are now offering yet another modern, low-threshold and fast medium for many questions people may have about studying. With that, the University of Freiburg is responding to the way in which prospective students and current students wish to communicate,” says Friedrich Arndt, head of the Central Student Advisory Service (ZSB) at the SCS.

The hotline passes on more complex inquiries that need more advisement to the ZSB team, the examination offices or the technical advisors - as in the past with inquiries by telephone or e-mail, Arndt emphasizes: “Our established reference practice ensures a high and sustainable advising quality.”
