Nobel laureate Prof. Dr. Jean-Pierre Sauvage from the University of Strasbourg is scheduled to hold the 24th Hermann Staudinger Lecture. In his talk “From Chemical Topology to Molecular Machines,” he will explain his research on molecular machines and discuss further fields of research and future applications, such as the production of new materials, energy storage devices and sensors. Together with Sir J. Fraser Stoddart and Bernard L. Feringa, Sauvage received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2016 for his contribution to design and the synthesis of molecular machines. In their work the laureates have shown how it is possible to build machines in the nanometer range.
