The “Gulag,” the extensive system of penal and labor camps in the former Soviet Union, is a symbol of the worst consequences of the October Revolution. The lecture is part of the Russian cultural festival “Russische Kulturtage 2017” and accompanies the exhibition “Letzte Botschaften. Briefe von Vätern aus dem Gulag” (“Last Messages: Letters from Fathers from the Gulag”), which runs until 16 Feb. 2018 at the Freiburg University Library and may be viewed daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
