Literature in the nunnery

See text for the caption

Adelhausen was one of the most famous Dominican nunneries in the city of Freiburg that was once founded in the Wiehre and moved to the Obere Gerberau in 1694. Anna von Munzingen, one of the few German-speaking female authors in the Middle Ages, and Johaness Meyer, one of the most important representatives of the ecclesiastical reform movement in the 15th century, worked in the old nunnery. Other authors and works in the library of the Adelhausen nunnery that were also present are illuminated by the exhibition, which originated from a lecture given by the University of Freiburg created in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Adelhausen Foundation and was sponsored by the latter. It begins on May 2, 2018 with an introductory lecture by Dr. Balázs J. Nemes, Germanistic Medieval German Studies in the Department of German at the University of Freiburg. It can be seen until July 11, 2018 during the usual opening hours of the University Library Freiburg.
