Podium discussion on July 10, 2018 on “Muslim Women’s Perception of Self and Others”

Freiburg, Jun 26, 2018

Stereotypes about "the" Muslim woman are pervasive in social discourse with a great deal of controversial discussion. Often the topic is taken up by non-Muslims. But it also impacts the self-determined development of Muslim women. In the panel discussion "A Resistance of Opinions: Between Foreign Attribution and Self-Perception - Muslim. Feminist. Invisible" women from the Muslim community will describe their perspectives on topics such as career, homeland, discrimination, diversity and social participation. Speakers include Amani Abuzahra, Lecturer at the Kirchlich-Pädagogische Hochschule Wien /Krems, spoken word artist Furat Abduelle, Nabila Bushra, a student in the master's program Gender Studies in Freiburg and Farah Bouamar, co-founder of the satire format "Die Datteltäter" in Berlin.
