The 2019 Winter Colloquium on Forestry and Timber will explore the impact of the forestry and timber industry on climate change while examining the importance of municipal timber construction in the implementation of the Paris Climate Convention. Does sustainable timber use include the longest possible binding of CO2 in timber construction? Do areas that are not farmed even have a positive effect on the forest’s CO2 storage capacity? And how can municipalities best implement realistic climate protection? These questions and more will be addressed by experts from science, politics and the field - the character of the Winter Colloquium is to initiate a well-founded debate by offering multiple perspectives. Peter Hauk, Minister for Rural Affairs and Consumer Protection Baden-Württemberg, will give the keynote lecture on the topic “Timber Construction Campaign in Baden-Württemberg - How can forest and wood construction in Baden-Württemberg contribute to climate protection?” on January 25, 2019 at 9 am.
