The Night of the Open Monuments

Freiburg’s monuments will open its doors on September 8, 2018 – the University will offer guided tours through three of its most interesting sights

According to the motto “Sharing Heritage – Discovering our connections,” the 25th annual Night of the Open Monuments will take place starting with a state-wide opening ceremony at 3pm on September 8 in the Historischen Kaufhaus (Historic Merchant Hall) located on the Münsterplatz. Amongst other things, guided tours of the historic University dungeon in the tower of the College Building I, a visit to the university's largest lecture hall, the Audimax, as well as tours of the Peterhof and the lecture hall of anatomy are planned. In addition to details about the University’s history, tour participants will also learn facts about the construction of the monuments, their earlier use and the research currently being carried out there. The tours are free. Due to the limited number of participants, tickets should be secured in front of the Historisches Kaufhaus on the Münsterplatz.
