Sleep Easier

Relaxation exercises, a diary and tips on good night’s sleep: With the online training ‘Sleep-e’ refugees receive a range of information on sleep problems. Picture/Illustration: Naima Humpert

Refugees often have difficulty obtaining suitable help if they are suffering from stress. So researchers from the University of Freiburg’s Institute of Psychology have developed the free online training course ‘Sleep-e’, which they hope will help refugees improve their sleep patterns. Now, the researchers want to study participants’ experience of the training and see whether it really helps. The Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Psychotherapy at the Institute of Psychology is looking for people with a refugee background who are suffering from sleep problems or other mental stress.

On ‘Sleep-e’ participants receive a range of information on sleep problems and other stresses: it covers tips on getting a good night’s sleep, relaxation exercises, keeping a sleep diary and information about the German health system. The online training course can be accessed online and using an app, and is available in German and English. It is based on cognitive behavioral exercises which have been scientifically proven to be effective when used in online therapy.

To register for the study please send an email to sleep-e@psychologie.uni-freiburg.de or visit the following website: www.unipark.de/uc/sleep-e_welcome/
