The outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic meant that the University of Freiburg had to switch its entire teaching to distance learning and digital formats in the summer semester of 2020 within a very short period of time. A return to classroom teaching will also be largely impossible in the coming winter semester. At the same time, the University is working on new hygiene concepts in order to still be able to offer the maximum amount of face-to-face teaching that is acceptable from an epidemiological perspective. What perspectives and difficulties do the new digital formats offer and do they provide impulses for university teaching beyond the pandemic? How have lecturers and students experienced the summer semester, and how do they evaluate these experiences? What is expected to be possible in the winter semester? These questions will be at the heart of panel discussion “Corona and university teaching.” Rector Prof. Dr. Hans-Jochen Schiewer, Prof. Dr. Juliane Besters-Dilger, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, the sinologist Prof. Dr. Nicola Spakowski, the doctoral student Eva Rüskamp from the English Department and Jann Köster, a law student, will discuss the developments and decisions of the past and coming months. Dr. Arndt Michael from Colloquium politicum will chair the discussion, which will be livestreamed. Spectators will have the opportunity to ask questions by e-mail both before and during the event.
