The project “Regional concepts for an integrated, efficient and sustainable energy supply and storage in the Upper Rhine Trinational Metropolitan Region,” RES-TMO for short, falls within the Chair of Remote Sensing and Landscape Information Systems at the University of Freiburg and is part of Eucor - The European Campus. An interdisciplinary consortium led by Prof. Dr. Barbara Koch will investigate the conversion to renewable energies and develop recommendations for action for the Upper Rhine region. The project will start off with welcoming speeches by Rector Prof. Dr. Hans-Jochen Schiewer and District President Bärbel Schäfer as well as numerous specialist lectures organized in cooperation with the trinational TRION-climate e.V. network. Since February 2019, RES-TMO has received 1.7 million euros for three years from the European Regional Development Fund through the Interreg V Upper Rhine program. Representatives from science, politics, industry and civil society will take part in the event.
