As a way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the annual bicycle race „Tour Eucor", a Franco-German team decided to organize the "Eucor Festival." Students from all five Eucor – The European Campus member universities will meet up on June 10, 2017 in Karlsruhe to celebrate the event. Shuttle busses will be at the ready in Freiburg to bring students to and from Karlsruhe.

Three countries, five universities, one festival: On June 10, 2017 a festival for all students from the European Campus member universities will gather at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) to celebrate the festival. Anna David and Lauriane Wolf, students who are completing their practical training at the University of Strasbourg and KIT under the aegis of the Franco-German Youth Office, organized the event. They are also receiving support from the Franco-German Initiative at KIT, the Eucor student council, students and employees from the five universities.

"The purpose of the festival is to have students get to know the idea behind the European campus beyond the curriculum itself," says Anna David. "We want to inspire people, bring them together and show them what the European Campus has in store for us all," adds Lauriane Wolf.

Plans for 2018

The Franco-German duo has put together a jam-packed program: during the festival seven bands from five cities and three countries will perform. A student band is represented from each of the five Eucor cities: Basel, Freiburg, Mulhouse, Karlsruhe and Strasbourg. "The sounds range from Indie pop to jazz groove electro and punk rock. There is something for everyone," explains Wolf. "And of course, we will have a ton of drinks, food trucks, cocktails and even a beer island," says David.

The organizers are putting on the final touches now. "We look forward to the nice exchange that will arise from the festival, along with having fun together and even making new friends," says the duo. Even though their practical training will end shortly after the festival, David's and Wolf's legacy will remain for European Campus students well beyond their departure. A continuation of the festival is already being planned in Strasbourg for 2018. The duo's successors should continue the initiative.
