This year, the University College Freiburg will present the Erasmus Prize for the Liberal Arts and Sciences to Lena Kulla, graduate of the Liberal Arts and Sciences program, and Dr. Alexandru Giurca for his dissertation at the Chair of Forest and Environmental Policy. The prize honors scientific work whose topic is treated in a particularly exemplary manner, also from an interdisciplinary perspective, making it possible to bridge the gap between different disciplines. It is awarded in two categories, for bachelor's and master's theses as well as for dissertations and postdoc theses. The prize is endowed with 1,500 euros and 3,500 euros respectively and has been donated by the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau since 2013. Martin Kobler, diplomat and former German ambassador to Pakistan, will deliver the speech on the topic “Is the world falling apart? Experiences with nation-building in the 21st century.”
