The life and work of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Georg von Hevesy

Born in 1885, Georg von Hevesy  is considered the father of nuclear medicine and was the co-discovered of the chemical element hafnium. In 1943 he received the Nobel Peace Prize in Chemistry for developing isotopic labeling. Hevesy was a professor of physical chemistry at the University of Freiburg from 1926 to 1934. Prof. Dr. Peter Gräber, who is a professor at the Institute of Physical Chemistry today, will dedicate his lecture to Georg von Hevesy’s biography and discoveries and will delve into his time in Freiburg in particular.
