School classes have become more heterogeneous in recent years - not only in terms of the children's countries of origin, but also in terms of the pupils' social backgrounds or performance levels. Educational scientist JProf. Dr. Meike Bonefeld sees an opportunity in this heterogeneity. To make use of it, new teaching methods and strategies are needed, she emphasises in the video. Bonefeld also explains how field research helps her to develop new research questions and to test hypotheses from the laboratory in practice.
