Students are producing medieval manuscripts – and learning how to read the centuries-old writings

Before the invention of modern printing in the 15th century, documents were produced by hand using a quill instead of a printing press. The medievalist Prof. Dr. Henrike Lähnemann is using a practical example to teach her students this process in her codicology seminar: They are producing their own medieval-style documents with goose quills.
