Ladies and Gentlemen,

Intelligent systems that learn and solve increasingly complex tasks from the ground up with a minimum of prior knowledge; land, air and sea robots that help emergency forces save lives and work under extreme conditions; research on “soft” robots with thin artificial muscles and functional surfaces for medical applications - these are just three examples from more than 100 scientific lectures at the “Robotics: Science and Systems” conference in Freiburg, at which more than 450 researchers from leading locations worldwide exchange ideas over five days.

The press conference is part of the international conference “Robotics: Science and Systems 2019,” which will take place from June 22-26, 2019 at the University of Freiburg.

The meeting will include the following speakers: Prof. Dr. Wolfram Burgard, Department of Computer Science at the University of Freiburg, Vice President for Automated Driving Technology at the Toyota Research Institute in Los Altos, USA, spokesperson for the Cluster of Excellence BrainLinks-BrainTools at the University of Freiburg and President of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, the largest international association in robotics and local organizer of the conference; and Prof. Dr. Maren Bennewitz, University of Bonn, vice president and organizer of the conference workshops; as well as other national and international experts.
